From now on Meridijan Yacht Servis is a part of Green Sail. We are very proud to be joining this admirable movement. Please help us to save our sea from plastic pollution.
”Green Sail is responsible for leading initiatives to protect and promote recycling and sustainable tourism along coastal communities, our seas and oceans.” – Grant Seuren, Director
The movement has developed policies and direct action projects which have been adopted and continue to have a positive effect on local tourism operating environments.
These include coastal cleaning, coastal waste reduction, recycling promotion, green tours and education to stakeholders, employees partners and suppliers.
MYS commits to meet all environmental rules and regulations within the charter industry and to strive to protect our environment through sound management practices and decisions.
We are all committed to pollution prevention by striving to minimize waste generation and resource consumption and promote recycling to our customers and associates.
We are committed to do and will:
Provide a safe and healthful workplace and ensure that personnel are properly trained with the appropriate safety and emergency equipment.
Be an environmentally responsible neighbour in the community where we operate, and correct incidents or conditions that endanger health, safety, or the environment.
Conserve natural resources by adopting pollution prevention practices. I.e.: extending the life of equipment through preventive maintenance scheduling, purchasing and reworking used equipment, we will use email rather than printed materials to communicate and promote our activities, we will only print and photocopy if absolutely essential and then print double-sided.
Develop and improve operations and technologies to minimize waste, and other pollution, minimize health and safety risks, and dispose of waste safely and responsibly.
Participate in efforts to improve environmental protection and understanding. Sharing appropriate pollution prevention message by promoting Green Sail message to our clients.
This policy will be communicated to all employees and organisations working for or on our behalf. Employees and other organisations are expected to co-operate and assist in the implementation of this policy, whilst ensuring that their own work, so far as is reasonably practicable, is carried out without risk to themselves, others, or the environment.
FLAGS AND STICKERS
Green Sail flags and stickers aim to inform customers.
Recycle stickers are placed on cupboards next to trash bins on boats encouraging recycling onboard.
Pennant flags are flown on boats to remind everyone onboard to recycle and look after our seas. The flags are a conversation starter and build awareness amongst customers. They also make customers feel good by being part of the Green Sail movement.
HOW TO GET A FLAG?
You can make a change by recycling when sailing and flying the flag to start a conversation about sustainable tourism. A simple conversation is all it takes to spark change and prompt action.
